Obituary: BUDDY ARTHUR WINCHESTER

Buddy Arthur Winchester departed this life on Wednesday evening, October 5, 2022. 

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1966.  While in school, he developed a love and passion for music and became a talented percussionist.  During the 1970s and 80s, he was a well-known disc jockey.  Spiritually, he was resolute member of Zion Baptist Church where he served as the church drummer.  Buddy was a retiree of Lorillard Tobacco Company and was formerly employed by the Reynolds-American Tobacco Company.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and the United States Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.  With courage and tenacity, he served his country during the Gulf War and was honorably discharged.  For many years, Buddy was the proprietor of Winchester Lawn Care.  During his leisure, he enjoyed traveling and exploring new restaurants. 

Survivors are: devoted brother, Kenyatta Millner; other relatives and many friends. 

Funeral services will be conducted Noon Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from the Zion Baptist Church, 807 Piedmont Street with Dr. Gregory Headen presiding.  Public viewing will be Monday afternoon from 1 until 8 p.m. at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
