

Brenda Thaxton Platt, 78, died on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at her home.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Deep Springs Baptist Church, 2406 River Rd, Stoneville, NC. The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Deep Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Scotton officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
Mrs. Platt was born on April 9, 1946 in Halifax Co, Virginia to the late John Wade Thaxton, Jr. and Lessie Burgess Thaxton Evans. Brenda dedicated many years as a dental assistant in Madison, as well as serving as a library assistant at various Rockingham County libraries, fostering her love of reading in many individuals.
Brenda was a devoted public servant, holding a position of Town Alderman for ten years, where she worked for the betterment of her community. In her personal life, she had a passion for reading, crocheting prayer shawls, pottery and painting. In her later years, she opened Glory B’s, a yarn shop in Madison, where she shared her love for crafting with others. In her younger years, Brenda played the cello, adding a musical touch to her life. She was a proud member of Deep Springs Baptist Church, where she found sweet fellowship with her Lord and Savior and her church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Ronnie Evans.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, W. Richard Platt; sons, Billy Platt (Darlene) and Stephen Platt; grandchildren, Josh Platt (Dani) and Bree Platt; brother, John Wade Thaxton, III (Sandra); niece, Sunni Thaxton Tejada (Danny) and great-nephew, Elliot Tejada.
