Obituary: BRENDA SANDS JOYCE

Brenda Sands Joyce, 76, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at her home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at West Side Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Lindsay, Bro. Paul Sisk and Bro. Don Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Knollhurst Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday at West Side Baptist Church and all other times at the home.

Mrs. Joyce was born on June 1, 1948 in Rockingham County to the late Lem Gilbert Sands and Maude Whitten Sands. Brenda was a devoted member of West Side Baptist Church, where she worshiped faithfully for many years. For twenty years, she opened her home to many children, providing them with loving care. Brenda had a passion for shopping and was always on the go. Above all, she loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Shelby Sands Tuttle and Sandra Sands Southern; infant sister, Laura Marie Sands and brother, Douglas Gilbert Sands.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-six years, Thomas Joyce; daughters, Lynn Joyce Webster (Derek) and Lori Joyce Smith (Jason); grandchildren, Cameron Webster, Casey Webster Smith (Wyatt), Maddox Smith and Ella Smith; sister, Jane Gann (Gene) and many extended family members and friends.
