Brenda Mae Robinson Joyce, 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Jacobs Creek Nursing and Rehab.

Brenda was born in Guilford County on September 28, 1947, to the late Joseph Allen and Jacqueline Mitchell Robinson, Sr. A devoted member of Mayodan First Baptist Church, Brenda was a beloved choir member and a passionate advocate for local youth groups.

Brenda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. At the young age of five, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior during Vacation Bible School in 1952, a decision that would guide her throughout her life. She loved her church and had an unwavering commitment to Christ.

With a career spanning over 40 years, Brenda worked at Wrangler, and later retired from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she served in the cafeteria and received numerous awards for her dedicated service. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. She enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting. Brenda loved the UNC Tarheels and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Ray Joyce; her brother, Joseph Allen Robinson; and her grandson, Joseph (Joey) Woods.

Brenda is survived by her children, Sandy Jean Yeatts of Madison, Ronald Wayne Athey (Laurie) of New Jersey, and Janet Harrison (Tony) of Randleman; her sister-in-law, Denise Robinson; her brother-in-law, Bill Joyce (Michelle); grandchildren, Hannah, Noah, James (Jamie), Jessica, and Trevor; great grandchildren, River, Asher, Ayden, Aubrey, Kayden, Waylon, and Wyatt; and three nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mayodan First Baptist Church, 101 1st Ave, Mayodan, NC 27027.

A 2:00 p.m. celebration of Brenda’s life will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Torrey Easler and Rev. Bud Parrish officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
