Bobby Totten, Sr. departed this life on Friday morning, July 14, 2023.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1960. He was a retiree of Morrisette Paper Company and was a faithful member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist. To this fellowship, he actively served with the Trustee Board, former President of the Usher Board, member of the Male Chorus, Chancel Choir, Senior Choir, Culinary Committee and Pastor’s Aid. In the community, he was a member of the Cambridge Flower Club and the Woodland Heights Prayer Group. Bobby was blessed with a charismatic personality and was loved by all who knew him. We thank God for his Christian life of love, devotion and service. To God Be The Glory!
His parents, Irene King Totten Broadnax Patterson and Cornelius Totten; beloved wife, Evelyn Watlington Totten; siblings, Freeman Totten, Harvey Totten, Robert Totten, George Totten, Leroy Totten, James Totten, Cornelius Totten, Jr., Earlene Bell and Naomi Moore, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: loving son, Bobby Totten, Jr. (Linda); devoted daughters, Jacqueline Harrison (Spencer), Linda Watlington and Angela Watlington; grandchildren, Danell Harrison, Cedric Watlington (Samone), Bobby Ethan Totten and Joshua Eli Totten; sisters-in-law, Betty Watlington, Liza Mae Brown, Betty Totten, Peggy Totten and Bobbie Totten; devoted friends, Pastor G. L. Hopkins, Sarah Vernon, Tabitha Meeks, Chris and Paul Schoolfield; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2023 from the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6038 Park Springs Road, Pelham with Pastor Gregory L. Hopkins presiding. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 until 1:30 p.m. at the church. Public viewing will be Saturday afternoon at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
