Bobby Dean Richardson, 53, left this earthly life on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2022 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with honors will follow in the True Gospel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family requests that all in attendance wear blue in support of law enforcement. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday at Colonial Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at the residence.
Mr. Richardson was born on December 18, 1968 in Rockingham County to Glenda Chatman Richardson and the late Otis Richardson. Bobby had a distinguished thirty plus year career in law enforcement, which included the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Madison-Mayodan Rescue Squad, Madison Police Department, the Madison and Mayodan Fire Departments, as well as the Airport Authority. In 2021, Bobby retired from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office as a Detective Sergeant with the Crime Scene Investigation Unit. His dedication, professionalism and gentle spirit will forever be remembered among the law enforcement community. Bobby was one that put others first in all that he did and set a godly example for his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandson.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by infant sister, Barbara Richardson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Gina Reid Richardson; children, Gregory Paul Richardson (Paige) and Kaitlyn Richardson Scotton (Kurt); grandson, Benjamin Luke Richardson “Papa’s Lil Bud;” siblings, Ricky Richardson, Brenda Sizemore (Jeff) and Rhonda Stanley (David); nieces and nephews, Randy Richardson, Shane Richardson, Courtney Rudd, Josh Smothers, Kayla Bergman and Jensen Gauldin and several special great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family members.
