Heaven rejoiced as they welcomed home their servant, Bobby R. Sands on Friday, June 16, 2023. Bobby lived his life humbly and placed God first in all areas of his life. Always giving a warm smile, he never met a stranger.
Bobby proudly served as a Deacon at Freedom Baptist Church supporting his Pastor and congregation for many years. He taught Sunday School for almost 30 years, only stopping when his health declined. He loved the boys and watching them grow into men of God. He also worked in various Church ministries such as Youth Club, VBS, Prayer Partners, and ushering; wherever he could serve the Lord, even if that was just taking out the trash and cleaning up after an event.
Bobby was a very respected and beloved local Race Car driver for many years. At the track, he witnessed with Bible verses on the cars, talking with other drivers and fans, leading in prayer, and giving his trophies to young fans. Racing with integrity was a top priority.
He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf with friends. Bobby was a man of many talents, maintaining the gasoline tank farm in Greensboro all the while proclaiming his faith through his words and deeds with co-workers and drivers.
A life spent in love with his high school sweetheart and wife, Amanda and loving father to his daughter, Savannah (Walker) McKenzie.
He is also survived by his sister, Martha (John) Rakestraw; brother, Hampton Jr.; nieces, Dana (Donald), Maranda (John), Aunt Hazel (James); sisters-in-law, Regina and Kristie and great nieces and great nephews, along with many other loving relatives.
