Bobby Johnson Sharon, 86, left this earthly life on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Gibson House Hospice.
The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Eden United Methodist Church with Reverend Chuck Hutchens officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the church and all other times at the residence.
Mr. Sharon was born on January 12, 1936 in Rockingham County to the late Hilton “Doc” Luman Sharon and Ruth Powell Sharon. Bobby graduated from Madison-Mayodan High School and was a lifelong member of Eden United Methodist Church, where he actively served as Sunday School superintendent and in the choir for many years. In his younger years, he worked for Penn Hardware and went on to retire as a custodian from the Rockingham County school system, while also delivering newspapers for the Greensboro News & Record. Bobby was well thought of in his community and was deeply loved by his family, his church and his friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Darryl Barton; brother and sister-in-law, Luman and Ruth Sharron and nephew, Roger Sharron.
Survivors include his wife, Genean O’Dell Sharon of the home; son, Bobby “Kevin” Sharon (Cathy) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter, Renee Sharon Barton and beloved Boston Terrier, Bella of Madison; granddaughters, Jessica Michael (Chris) of Chesapeake, Virginia and Jennifer Farley (Corey) of Hurricane, West Virginia; great-grandchildren, Joey Garcia and Cooper, Melanie and Layla Farley; special niece, Patricia Fulp (Bill) and niece, Kay Sharron and several special extended family members and friends.
