Bobbie Wise Benton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 18th 2025 at the age of 91 after a long stay at a care facility where she was attended to daily by her loving daughters.

Bobbie lived her life with strength, determination, love for those around her and faith in the Lord. She lived much of her life in Florence and then Columbia, SC; lived as an ex-pat in Israel as a young woman, worked at and retired from Bell South and raised three incredible young women, infusing in each of them with parts of that Bobbie Jean spirit (something all of us who were privileged to know her are well familiar with)! She lived the last 12 years with family in Dallas, Tx and then Greensboro, NC and was blessed with time with her two surviving daughters and many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bobbie was predeceased by her parents, James Wyman (Jimmie) Wise and Ila (Yarborough) Wise; first husband, Ernest Lelon (Jack) Oulla and her second husband, Gilbert Lee Benton; her youngest daughter, Margaret Neal (Meg) (Oulla) (Andersen) Turner, and her younger brothers, Charles (Buddy) Wayne Wise & Don Wyman Wise.

Bobbie is survived by: Her daughter Barbara Jeanne (Jeannie) (Oulla) Gallaher and her husband, Thomas A. (Tag) Gallaher, granddaughter Caroline Marie Gallaher and her children, 3 of Bobbie’s 12 great-grandchildren, Jude Adrienne Gallaher, Caleb Avery Gallaher and Lux Gabriel Gallaher and granddaughter Stephani Nicole (Gallaher) Digweed and her husband, Jonathan Alan Digweed, and their children, 4 of Bobbie’s 12 great grandchildren, Alexander Michael Digweed, Sophia Gabrielle Digweed, Aurianna Raphaelle Digweed and Aurthur Joseph Digweed,

Her daughter Elizabeth King (Oulla) (Carrowan) Mackenroth and her husband, Scott Alan Mackenroth, grandson Matthew Ryan Carrowan, his wife Nicki Iriarte Carrowan and their children, 2 of Bobbie’s 12 great grandchildren, Lauren Marie Carrowan and Olivia Grace Carrowan, Christopher Tyler Carrowan, his wife Stephanie, and his children, 2 of Bobbie’s 12 great grandchildren, Macon Merrick Carrowan & Emmaline Avery Carrowan,

And her daughter, Megan’s, children, Nicholas Maxwell Andersen, his wife Carmen and their daughter, 1 of Bobbie’s 12 great grandchildren, Mary Grace Andersen as well as John Taylor Andersen, and PFC Jacob Lelon Turner (USA).

There will be a grave-side service held Wednesday, 25 June, 2025 at Center United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC at 2:00 PM.
