Billy James Priddy, 84, left this earthly life to be with the Lord and Eva, his wife of 57 years, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Eden Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Morning Star Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.
Bill was a life-long resident of Stokes County, where he was born on February 5, 1939, to the late Neil Priddy and Vina Mabe Priddy. He retired from Hooker Furniture and Macfield Industries, and was a past employee of Stoneville Furniture. He was a NASCAR fan, took pride in gardening — grew vegetables including prize winning cabbage. Farming was ingrained in Bill as a child and he continued working the farm throughout the years. He loved his family, and Papa Bill loved his grandsons and great-granddaughters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eva Jane Biggs Priddy (2018); an infant daughter; son-in-law Gregg Carter; daughter-in-law Catherine Priddy, and siblings Elmer Priddy, Garland Priddy, Ruby Tuggle, Doris Bunker, and Margie Priddy Shelton.
Survivors include a son Dean Priddy; daughter Dawn Priddy Carter; grandsons Allen Priddy (Beth), Caleb Carter (fiancée Brittni), Jacob Carter (Lizzie); great-granddaughters Grace Priddy, Annabelle and Juliana Carter; siblings, Clarice Belton (James), Maxine Hylton, Dianne Collins, Glenda Shelton, Talmadge Priddy (Gail), and Gail Priddy along with many extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel and other times at Bill’s residence.
