Obituary: BILLY C. WILSON

Billy C. Wilson, 91, of Pine Hall, NC, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 23, 1933 in Rockingham County to the late Carlos and Lillie Wilson. He grew up in Madison, NC and later moved to Pine Hall where he married the love of his life, Vera Kiser.

Billy was a member of Pine Hall Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and was on the cemetery committee for 40 years. He worked for Burlington Industries before becoming a full time farmer. He was well known for having some of the best tobacco in Stokes County. He also enjoyed gardening. He had what was known as the “Community Garden” where everyone was welcome to gather what they needed. Billy was also known as a very generous, giving person contributing to several foundations and would always help anyone in need.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Vera K. Wilson; children, Billy (Karen), Gary (Karinda), Derek (Ashley); grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie-son Weston), Sara Brewer (Travis), Elliott (Amanda), Daniel (Jaime-son, Carson), Marisa (Nic), Madison, Savannah; great grandchildren, Emma Wilson, Max, Luke, and Wes Brewer, Everett and Vera Wilson, Dylan and Kinsley Wilson; siblings, Margie Vernon, Faye (Bill) Bottoms, Gail Whitten, and Donald Wilson.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his siblings, Sallie Ziglar and Ray Wilson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sherri Smith, Annette Spencer, Janice Minor, and Jean Gann for the help and care they have shown to both parents during this trying time.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Pine Hall Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 1p.m. on Sunday at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Marty Brim accompanied by Pastor Mark Smith and Reverend Dr. John Senior.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pine Hall Presbyterian Cemetery Fund at PO Box 82, Pine Hall, NC 27042.
