Obituary: BILLI RAY THROCKMORTON

Billy Ray Throckmorton, 58, died on Wednesday, March, 27, 2024 at his home.
Billy was born on February 22, 1966 in Rockingham County to the late Homer Watson Throckmorton and Bertha “Bert” Virginia White Throckmorton. From a young age, Billy, along with his five brothers enjoyed nature and spent a lot of time fishing, as well as squirrel, rabbit and coon hunting. They also worked on cars, especially their “hot rods,” as Billy was proud of his 1968 burgundy Baracuda. Billy will be remembered for his quality carpentry skills, being a good drawer and tending to his vibrant garden each year. His Cherokee Indian ancestry was important to him, as he made arrowheads out of tile.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chad Throckmorton; brother, Terry Throckmorton and niece, Mary Leigh Throckmorton.
Survivors include his daughter, Billie Jean Throckmorton; grandchildren, Lexi Cook, Cameron Throckmorton and Cheyenne Throckmorton; brothers, James Throckmorton (Barbara), Jesse Wayne Throckmorton, Leo “Lee” Throckmorton (Mary Belle) and Roy Franklin Throckmorton (Rhonda); sister-in-law, Sandra Throckmorton; niece, Tracey Throckmorton Steele; nephews, Randall Throckmorton, Jared Throckmorton, Terry Throckmorton, Heath Throckmorton and Jamie Throckmorton and special friend, Jeannie Spainhour.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Ancora Compassionate Care (formerly Hospice of Rockingham County) and AuthoraCare Hospice for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care (formerly Hospice of Rockingham County) and/or AuthoraCare Hospice.
