Obituary: BESSIE MAE BULLINS SHEMO

Bessie Mae Bullins Shemo, 81, of Madison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Wilson Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, July 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home and all other times at the home.

Bessie was born in Stokes County on June 16, 1943, to the late Kelcie and Mattie Sue Hundley Bullins. She was a faithful member of Crossroads of Life Ministries and loved the Lord deeply. Bessie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, being a caregiver to her daughter Donna for 61 years. She loved having cookouts with her family, cherished her grandchildren, and enjoyed shopping, especially at Hamricks.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Michael Shemo; her brothers, Edward, Ray, and Paul Dean Bullins; and her sisters, Shirlene and Mary Bullins.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Donna Bullins of the home, Rhonda Martin (Steve) of Madison, Robert Shemo (Tosha) of Sandy Ridge, and Bill Shemo of the home; her brothers, Cecil Bullins (Martha) of Madison, Roy Bullins (Cheryl) of Danbury, and Donnie Bullins (Faye) of Madison; her sister, Patsy Mabe (Tommy) of Sandy Ridge; her sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Bullins of Madison; her grandchildren, Stephen Martin (Carlon), Kayla Hill (Anthony), Christian Shemo, and Brandon Shemo; step-grandchildren, Emily Shelton, Allison Shelton, and Connor Dickey; and her great grandchildren, Savannah Martin, Ava Martin, and Kinsley Mae Hill.
