Austin Aaron, Southern, 68, formerly of Mayodan, born June 29, 1955, entered into eternal rest Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Jacob’s Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The family will receive friends beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel with funeral services following at 7 p.m
Austin was born in Guilford County, to the late Gordon Coolidge Southern and Virginia Gaither Southern. He was employed in the textile industry. Austin enjoyed gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Sorrell Southern; a son, Austin Aaron Southern, Jr., grandson, Michael (Mikey) Aaron Westcott; brothers, Samuel, David Southern, and Robert Coke Southern; and a sister, Linda Sue Wood.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Dale Southern; grandchildren, Brittany Bryan, Colt, Laine, and Destiny Cardwell; and great-grandchildren, Serenity, Paisley, Gracie Kay Bryan, Waylon Nunn, and Austin Cardwell. Also left to cherish Austin’s memory are two brothers, Gordon Carl Southern (Alice) and Mark Southern (Rhonda).
Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving family.
