Audrey Erlean Cook, 75, passed away at her home Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel on Sunday, October 23 at 1:30pm, with a reception to follow.

Erlean was born on May 17, 1947 in Rockingham County to the late Thomas Willard Shelton and Audrey Ila Case. She was a faithful member of Mayodan First Baptist Church and loved to read, garden, crochet, and cook. She loved her family tremendously and made everyone who knew her feel special. She battled cancer for almost a decade, surprising everyone with her strength and tenacity and was a beacon of hope and encouragement to all those around her. It was her wish that everyone saw the strength afforded to her from God to make it through difficult times. Erlean had a personality that brought people together and she will be missed by all.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Finus Cook; sons, Jonathan Neil Cook (Sallie), and Jared Franklin Cook (Joanna); grandchildren, Molly and Lenore; brothers, Thomas, Robert, James, William, and David Shelton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, 2150 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320 and/or Mayodan First Baptist Church, 101 1st Ave, Mayodan, NC 27027.
