Annie Sue Joyce, 77, died on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Joyce Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and all other times at her home.

Annie was born on September 22, 1946 in Rockingham County to the late Hassell William Joyce and Lucy Mae Clark Joyce. During her working career, she served as cafeteria manager for several public schools in the Bassett area. Annie was known for her unconditional love and the way she taught her family to love the same way. She was a devoted member of Orchard Drive Baptist Church in Bassett. Her fun-loving spirit and selfless nature were evident in her dedication to her family and willingness to help anyone in need. Her legacy of love, service and joy will be cherished by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Ronnie Gail Joyce and Donna Sue Joyce; brother, Samuel Hayes Joyce and sister, Rosa Mae Duggins.

Survivors include her children, Carol Joyce Ottaway (David), Karen Joyce Rodriguez (Roberto), Lloyd Donald Joyce, Jr. (Tamatha) and Vinie Gail Joyce; grandchildren, Roberto “Robbie” Rodriguez, Jr., Richard James Rodriguez, Somer Briana Ratliff (Wesley), Alana Christine Ottaway and Evan Donald Joyce; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Elizabeth Ratliff and Lucas Wesley Ratliff and sisters, Helen Tilley, Kay Joyce Shively and Peggy Joyce Evans.
