Obituary: ANNIE “MARIE” NANCE

Annie Marie Minter Nance, 89 of Ruffin, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 23, 2024, after a courageous battle with dementia and heart disease.

A funeral service and celebration of life will be held at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 12:00 PM with Rev. Richard Nunn officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensboro, NC.

Marie was born in Draper(now Eden), North Carolina to the late Paul and Annie Minter on January 1st, 1935. In addition to her parents, “baby Annie” was preceded in death by her five brothers, Dillard, Webb, Jim Willie, Tommi-Joe, and Rush; two sisters, Cora and Lottie Mae Law. Marie also suffered the devastating loss of her youngest son, Dannie Rae Nance at the age of 16.

Marie is survived by her faithful husband of 69 years, Maynard Nance of Ruffin, NC; son, Randy and wife, Lori, two granddaughters, Lindsay Marie and Leah Danielle, four great grandchildren, McKenna Wells, Peyton Hunt, Tyler Hunt, and Evie Huskey.

Marie attended Ruffin High School and worked in Greensboro, NC most of her professional career as a telephone operator for Southern Bell Telephone and later a Quality Control inspector for AMP Inc. She was a devoted Christian who enjoyed crafts, nature, her family and her extended church family at the former Camp Herman Baptist Church in Brown Summit, NC.

The family would like to thank Marie’s wonderful support team at Chilton Family Care Home in Reidsville as well as the entire team at Ancora Compassionate Care in Reidsville, NC.
