Obituary: ANDREW PAUL “BUDDY” MARTIN JR






























































Andrew Paul “Buddy” Martin, Jr., 85, of Mayodan, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at North Pointe of Mayodan.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Torrey Easler officiating. Interment will follow at Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home.

Buddy was the son of the late Andrew Paul Martin and Leona Shelton Martin. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mayodan. He was a Production Manager of Gem-Dandy and retired with over 40 years. Buddy also served as Mayodan Town Councilman with 42 years of service. He was a big supporter of Madison-Mayodan Recreation Department. Buddy played and coached men’s softball and coached youth baseball.

Buddy was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His grandchildren were his world. He bragged every chance he got on their accomplishments and was always in the stands to cheer them on until his health started to decline.

Buddy was an avid sports fan especially the Carolina Tar Heels. He was a Rams club member and a season ticket holder for Carolina football for many years and always had sports on his television. He will be remembered patting his head saying “Oh baby!” He loved visits from his granddog Riley.

Buddy is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Pearson Martin; father and mother-in-law, Homer and Mary Alice Pearson; brother-in-law, Jack Norris and step-granddaughter, Bailey Smith and also friend, Shirley Watson.

He is survived by his sons, Andrew Paul “Drew” Martin, III (Edna) and Mark Martin (Linda); sister, Sara Norris; grandchildren, Kristen Martin, Mark Martin, Jr. (Kristin) and Chris Martin; step-grandchildren, Carter and Lucas Smith; great-grandchildren, Grayson and Bailey Martin; nephew, Bob Norris and niece, Becky Norris and many cousins; also special friends, Kennis and Billie Grogan.

The family would like to thank the Staff at North Pointe for their kindness and care.
