Obituary: ALMA O’NEAL JONES

Alma O’Neal Jones, 67, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the Gibson House, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Travis McGuirt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Alma was born and lived most of her life in Georgia, before relocating to North Carolina, living in Rocky Mount, Mt. Airy, and lastly moving to Reidsville, NC about two years ago. She received her B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Columbus State University and worked for H & R Block over 30 years, serving in many different capacities. She was a fan of sports and played basketball in high school, sporting #13 and enjoyed playing the piano in her younger years. Alma loved the challenge of stretching a dollar and would thoroughly do her research for the best deals. Family was extremely important, especially her ten grandchildren. She was an amazing cook, a master at plastic canvas and a collector of salt and pepper shakers from all over the world. After moving to Reidsville, she became a member at Calvary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ola Rogers and niece, Tara Cowan.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Jones; sons Jonathan Jones and wife, Emily, Paul Jones and wife, Lindsey, Stephen Jones and wife, Alison; grandchildren, Amelia, Georgia, Kolton, Anna, Nathaniel, Caden, Rylan, Mackenzie, Cael and Zachary O’Neal Jones; sister-in-law, Wanda Spires; and nephew, Timmy Youngblood.
