Obituary: ALLIE MAE HICKMAN

Allie Mae Hickman, 103, of Stoneville, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Hospice of Rockingham County.

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Harris Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service beginning at 12 noon.

Allie was born in Rockingham County on August 27, 1919, to the late Tom and Sallie Goins Hickman. She attended Victory Hill Holiness Church in her younger years. She spent her time as a homemaker, helping on the farm, and babysitting her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, watching tv, especially soap operas, reading, and working both crossword puzzles and word searches.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Powell Hickman; two brothers and six sisters.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Anita Adkins of Stoneville and Rita Lemons and husband Dennis of Mayodan; her grandchildren, Jennifer Hayden, Jason Lemons, and April Atwood (Josh); great grandchildren, Brianna Shuff, Cannon Lemons, Aaron Lemons, Allie Lemons, and Chesni Hopper; and a great-great grandchild, Axel Shuff; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Sam.
