– Visit Rockingham County Adds Blueway Branding to DOT River Access Signage –

Rockingham County, NC-(June 6, 2024) – In July 2022, Rockingham County Center for Economic Development and Tourism and the Rockingham County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) released the RoCo Blueway Branding Phase I. Phase I revealed the fresh RoCo Blueway Branding logo, color palette, and taglines, alongside the eagerly awaited, revised Blueway Guide.

Phase II, initiated in Fall 2023, centered on strengthening brand awareness and most importantly, ensuring blueway goers could easily identify when they were utilizing a RoCo Blueway river or lake access point. Through this process, and in agreement with N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Blueway signage has recently been placed just under the existing brown, NCDOT water access recreation signs within Rockingham County. With 18 access points countywide, water recreation is the number one tourist attraction in Rockingham County. These points are located in all corners of the county – along the Dan, Haw, Mayo, and Smith rivers, and at the Haw River and Mayo River state parks, Belews Lake, Lake Reidsville, and Lake Hunt. The access signs are an integral piece in ensuring visitors recognize they are entering these blueways in Rockingham County.

“Understanding your position along our blueways extends beyond navigation; it prioritizes safety, efficiency, and amplifies the joy of your journey,” emphasized Lindsay Pegg, RoCo Tourism Manager. “Heightened awareness of your surroundings not only ensures safety but also deepens your appreciation for the natural beauty and tranquility of the experience.”
