(Wentworth, NC) – The Rockingham County Board of Commissioners held their regular scheduled meeting on June 20, 2022 at the Rockingham County Governmental center in Wentworth, NC.

Recognition of Ronald Perkins, Joel Madren and Tony Pruitt, recipients of the Order of the Guardian, which is the highest honor given by the N.C. Department of Insurance.
5. RECOGNITION: Mark McClintock, Tax Administrator
Recognition of Ashley F. Perkins, Rockingham County Tax Administration, for obtaining the professional designation of Personal Property Specialist (PPS) from the International Association of Assessing Officers.
6. RECOGNITION: Chris Elliott, Safety & Risk Manager
Recognition of Jordan James for Outstanding Work and Contributions to Rockingham County Government’s Wellness Program.

A) Pat Galloway, Director of Financial Services
1. Approval – Increase TDA budget for Eden and Reidsville Occupancy Tax projected to be collected over original FY 22 budget estimates. (Eden – $25,000 and Reidsville – $25,000)
2. Approval- Appropriation of grant awarded to the Register of Deeds in the amount of $2,000. The grant (NCOSBM Contract #2053RD1) is funded by NC Session Law 2021-180 and 2021-189 and is to be used for the preservation of historic records and files. The fifty percent (50%) matching funds requirement will be met through existing ROD budget appropriations.
3. Approval- Appropriation of Duke Energy Foundation Grant of $8,000 awarded to Rockingham County, $5,000 of the grant will be used for Belews Lake Park improvements and $3,000 will be used for River Waring signage.
4. Approval – Increase Internal Service Fund 125 Employee Plan budget by $20,000 to cover expected expenditures through fiscal year end. Fund balance available in the fund along with estimated employee contributions over the original budget amount will provide the funding for this increase.
B) Mark McClintock, Tax Administrator
Approval- Tax Collection and Reconciliation reports for May including refunds for May 26, 2022 thru June 7,2022
C) Lindsay Pegg, Tourism Development Authority
Approval – Appointments to the TDA Board to replace Rockingham County Appointees, Debbie Moore and Nathan Daly (terms expire June 2022). New Board Appointments: Chip Reynolds, Reynolds Brewery, 354 W. Meadow Road, Eden, NC 27288 and Victoria Ellis, Crave Nutrition, 305 SE Market Street, Reidsville, NC 27320. Their first terms will expire June 2025.
D) Captain Jennifer Brown
1. Approval – Sergeant Shane Woodall is retiring from the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office effective July 1, 2022 with over 23 years of service. He is requesting to purchase his duty weapon for $1.00 (purchase permit attached).
2. Approval – Captain Mark Kennon is retiring from the Rockingham County
Sheriff’s Office effective August 1, 2022 with over 25 years of service. He is requesting to purchase his duty weapon for $1.00. A copy of his NC Concealed Handgun Permit is attached which allows him to purchase weapons in NC [see attached NCGS § 14-402(a)J.
E) Rhonda Hooker, Library Administration
Approval – Reappointment of Amanda Fair to the Public Library Board of Trustees. The term will expire June 2025.

13, CONSIDERATION: Sam S. Page, Sheriff Rockingham County
Approval – 75 units of surplus body armor to Samaritan’s Purse for distribution to benefit the people of war-ravaged Ukraine.
14. NEW BUSINESS: Ronnie Tate, Director of Engineering and Public Utilities
Approval- Funding for new Bar Screen equipment for the Town of Mayodan Waste Water Treatment Plant: This equipment will be used to provide more waste water capacity for the plant and for the County Cost of the project is $298,564.00
