Farmina Pet Foods Opens First U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Reidsville

REIDSVILLE, N.C. — June 11, 2025 — With a ribbon cutting ceremony and warm welcomes from state and local leaders, Farmina Pet Foods officially opened its first U.S.-based manufacturing facility Wednesday in Reidsville, North Carolina.

The state-of-the-art, 150,000-square-foot facility—located at 248 Sands Road—marks a major milestone for the family-owned Italian pet food company, which has invested $115 million into the site and plans to create 200 new jobs over the next five years. Seventy-five of those positions have already been filled.

Dignitaries in attendance included North Carolina Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger, Assistant Commissioner Chrissy Waggett of the NC Department of Agriculture, Rockingham County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kevin Berger, and Reidsville Mayor Donald Gorham.

“Farmina’s decision to establish its U.S. operations in North Carolina is a strong endorsement of our skilled workforce and our growing reputation as a business-friendly hub for modern, innovative manufacturing,” said Senator Berger. “We’re thrilled to welcome this world-class technology to our great state and proudly open our arms to Farmina as they join our business community.”

Farmina has served North American pet owners for more than a decade, importing premium foods made in Europe. The new Reidsville facility allows the company to localize production, providing faster, more sustainable service to the U.S. market while maintaining high standards for safety and nutrition.

The facility introduces European food safety and quality protocols that exceed U.S. regulatory requirements, and features advanced manufacturing technology designed to support Farmina’s mission: providing top-tier nutrition rooted in science and nature.

“As Italians, family is at the heart of everything we do—and that includes our pets,” said Loris Rinaldi, CEO of Farmina Pet Foods North America. “We’re proud to bring European standards, premium ingredients, and personalized support to pet parents across the U.S. with our new Reidsville facility.”

The project was made possible through support from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Rockingham County, City of Reidsville, Duke Energy, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), along with state incentives through the Job Development Investment Grant (JDIG) program.

Farmina’s expansion is expected to contribute millions to the local and state economy and position Rockingham County as a hub for modern pet food innovation.
