(Rockingham County, NC) – Rockingham County Government is excited to announce the appointment of their new Division of Social Services Director (DSS), Carye Dickerson. Dickerson will officially transition to her new position on Saturday, June 29th.
Carye earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Averett University in December 2005. She commenced her tenure with Rockingham County Department of Social Services (DSS) in March 2014 as a Foster Care Social Worker and Links Coordinator. Over the years, she has held various pivotal roles within the department, including Adoption Social Worker III, Adult Services Social Worker Supervisor III, and most recently, Adult Services and Integrated Health Care Program Manager. These extensive experiences have established her as a highly qualified candidate for the position of DSS Director.

I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team in a new capacity as we continue providing essential services and making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.”
As part of Rockingham County Department of Health and Human Services, DSS proudly serves the people of Rockingham County by providing high-quality, caring, and efficient services. They offer an array of services including but not limited to adult services, child welfare services, economic benefit services, and child support enforcement.
