The award acknowledges Cone Health for supporting employees and their families.
Greensboro – Cone Health has become the first health system to earn the certification from the N.C. Early Childhood Foundation’s Family Forward NC® initiative. Cone Health also represents the largest employer to date to have received the recognition.
“We are proud to receive this certification from Family Forward NC, which further illustrates Cone Health’s commitment to the holistic well-being of our team members and their families,” said Michelle Adamolekun, Cone Health Chief People & Culture Officer. “We know that our team members are best able to provide exceptional care to our patients and communities when they have the benefits and offerings to help them thrive and belong.”
This certification is given to employers that offer policies and practices that support the health and well-being of working families and children.
Cone Health is proud to be the first and only health care system in North Carolina to offer our team members access to Wellthy, a care concierge service that helps in considering all the variables of care—whether it’s for yourself, a spouse, children, parents or a member of your chosen family.
“We reached out to Wellthy for research on assisted living facilities for our mother. We are still in the process of deciding where her next home will be, but our Wellthy care representative saved us so much time with the initial inquiries and we are very appreciative. She provided insight into costs, ratings and any citations that the facilities may have received,” said Michele Jackson, a Senior Executive Assistant at Cone Health.
Wellthy is just one of the Total Rewards offered by Cone Health. To achieve certification, Cone Health’s benefits in the following areas were examined:
- Paid leave and wages
- Accommodations for pregnant and breastfeeding workers
- Childcare offerings and support
- Health and wellness benefits
- Scheduling practices
“When both of my children needed childcare, the Kids Connection [daycare offered by Cone Health] was an incredible relief,” said Cassandra Galloway, Ph.D., Cone Health Senior Program Manager of Interprofessional Nursing Team. “Having my children onsite with excellent supervision was priceless. Additionally, having the fees deducted pre-tax made it easier to cover daycare expenses while still supporting my family.”
Family Forward NC is an initiative to improve children’s health and well-being and keep North Carolina’s businesses competitive. It is employer-led change to increase access to research-based, family-friendly practices — big and small — that improve workplace productivity, recruitment and retention, grow a strong economy and support children’s healthy development.
