City of Eden Welcomes Councilman Greg Light

(Eden, NC) – After an application process and thoughtful deliberation, the Eden City Council appointed Mr. Greg Light as the newest councilman to fill a vacancy in Ward 6. Councilman Light took office Tuesday night during the regular scheduled January Council meeting, the Honorable Judge Stan Allen administering the oath of office.

Councilman Light is a native of Eden and joined the Eden Police Department in 1992 as a reserve officer. He worked as a patrol officer and investigator before being promoted to Deputy Chief in 2013. He then attended and graduated from the 254th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. Light retired as Police Chief in May of 2020.

Currently, Councilman Light is the Administrator of Operations and Athletic Director for Community Baptist Schools. He is married to Wendy Bullins Light and they have two children:  Hannah and Adam.

During his remarks after the swearing in ceremony Councilman Light said, “I will always do my best in making decisions for the citizens and staff.”

Mayor Neville Hall is looking forward to what Light and his leadership will do to help us continue to grow and improve our City. “We appreciate Greg’s willingness to serve. He brings a wealth of municipal knowledge to the council as a long-time city employee.”
