The executive who began career as a hospital cashier will now help accelerate the vision and work of CEO.
Greensboro- While Cone Health embarks on a new era in health care it is rounding out its leadership team to guide it. Angie Orth will serve as a senior vice president and chief of staff to the CEO as the health system accelerates its progress on becoming a national leader in value-based care.
In this position, Orth will work with Cone Health President and CEO Dr. Mary Jo Cagle, on building and maintaining relationships, leading special projects and helping prioritize the items that will make this successful. While the work is much different from where she started, the values Orth experienced aren’t.
“I just fell in love with Cone Health, its legacy and its commitment to our community and patients,” says Orth recalling those early days as a part time cashier. And she knows that not every job leads to the opportunities that this one did. “I was fortunate to be surrounded by dedicated and talented people who guided me and challenged me to take on new responsibilities. I found them everywhere along the way at Cone Health.”
Orth’s career journey isn’t lost on Cagle, “Her unique career path makes Angie ideal for this role. Her breath of experience makes her a trusted advisor and a tremendous asset to me, our senior leadership team and Cone Health.”
Prior to this role, Orth was an internal consultant at Cone Health. She previously served as the senior vice president of operations for the Greensboro Market of Cone Health. Before that, she was president of Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville.
Orth gained additional experience in rural health care as CEO of Randolph Health in Asheboro and experience in care away from the hospital thru leadership roles at Advanced Health Care. Both of those areas are major parts of value-based care.
“I consider this new role as a capstone of my career. I remain grateful and honored to be part of the Cone Health family,” adds Orth.
Orth earned her MBA from Wake Forest University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives®.
