Obituary: CYNTHIA ALLEN ALMOND

Cynthia Ruth Almond, 95, of Reidsville, NC, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2022 from natural causes.

She was born and grew up in Winslow, Indiana, a daughter to the late Pearl and Minnie Ruth Allen. After graduation from Winslow High School, she relocated to Albemarle, N.C. to begin her working life. There she met and married her husband, Frank Almond. After he finished dental school in Chicago, Illinois, they eventually relocated to Reidsville in 1955. Cynthia was a homemaker, raising their three children in Reidsville enjoying many mountain and beach family vacations, including camping, fishing and boating. With her husband, she enjoyed Reidsville civic life and they were members of the First Baptist Church.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Frank Almond; her son, Gregory Almond; and by her siblings: Pearl Allen Jr., Gladys Bunn, Nancy Bridges, and Daisy Ward.

She is survived by daughters, Debbie Brauneck of Palatka, FL and Janeen Goodwin of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Brauneck of Naples, FL, Daniel Brauneck of St. Augustine, FL, Shelby Willoughby (Richard) of Tampa, FL, Allison Goodwin of Raleigh, NC; great granddaughter, Ophelia Brauneck; sister, Kitty Barnes of Wilson, NC; brother, Kirby Allen of Rockwell, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Cynthia’s life will be announced at a later date.
