Obituary: JOHN HOCUTT GOODMAN, JR

John H. Goodman, Jr, 79, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, May 14, 2022.  

Born in Asheville, John graduated from Guilford High School and then earned two bachelor’s degrees in Business and Accounting  from Guilford College.   In 1989 he married the love of his life, Patsy Barham.  After working for more than 30 years for Fieldcrest Cannon John retired as Risk Manager.  He then pursued a lifelong dream of becoming a Certified Public Accountant.  He was an avid reader, loved photography, playing softball, and watching his grandchildren participate in sports.  John was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Eden, NC where he served as a Deacon and an Elder.  He also was a regular attendee of Calvary Church, Greensboro.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville, NC with the Rev Dr. Kyle Goodman and Greg Knight officiating, also participating are the Rev. Kevin Cochran and the Rev. Dr. Evan Smith.  Visitation will be 1 hour before the service.  Burial will be held at Mt. Bethel Christian Church, 8130 NC 65, Summerfield, NC where John served as a Deacon.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Neva McKinney Goodman and John H. Goodman Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Patsy B. Goodman; children; Todd Goodman  (Elizabeth)  and  children,  Josh, Madison, Joanna, Jillian; Greg Knight (Karen) and children, Clementine, Penelope; Kyle Goodman (Michelle) and child, Maelyn; Wendi G Stockstill, fiancé, David Mills and children, Blake, Breelyn, Haven, Landon, Tracy G. Prillaman (Mark) and children, Brittany and Rachel; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert Goodman, wife Phyllis, Richard Goodman, wife, Sebea.  John was a beloved member of the Barham family and had many dear friends, nieces and nephews.

John was a generous man and people wishing to donate to a charity can give to the American Heart Association, Heifer Project International or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
