Obituary: DAVID WILLIAM JEFFERSON SIZEMORE

David William Jefferson Sizemore, 79, left this earthly life Saturday, October 1, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

     David was born in Stokes County on December 17, 1942, to the late Edgar Sizemore and Bethel Whitten Sizemore. He experienced his spiritual birth April 19, 2022, when he accepted the Lord as his Savior.

     Throughout the years he was employed with Rakestraw Farm and Equipment, Heath Brothers Grading, and Kobe Copper. David loved the outdoors, enjoyed Coon and Rabbit Hunting, gardening (especially growing tomatoes), fishing, and spending time at the 311 Speedway. He was of the Baptist faith.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Perry, Paul, and Joe Sizemore and three sisters, Cora Wells, Myrtle Cooper, and Lucy Hart, and son-in-law, Corbert Montgomery.

     Survivors include his wife, of 59 years, Lorene Brim Sizemore; two sons, David Wayne Sizemore, Dickie Ray Sizemore (Debbie); a daughter, Tammy Hurley (Thomas); brother, Raymond Sizemore; two sisters, Ada Wells and Mary Smith; 13 grandchildren, Tanner Sizemore, Chandler Sizemore, Summer Sizemore, Kristi Sizemore, Jayden Sizemore, Dustin Sizemore, Ethan Sizemore, Jesse Sizemore, and Suzanne Sizemore, Brandi Shelton, Nikki Bennett, Brandon Montgomery, and Angie Smith; and 14 great grandchildren, Alexis Dalton, Kieran Sizemore, B.J. Gray, Bryson Gray, Makenzie Sizemore, Logan Adams, Tinsley Sizemore, Dean Smith, Samuel Smith, Renesmee Smith, Destiny Sizemore, Bree Sizemore, J.J. Sizemore and Victoria Shelton.

     The family extends their appreciation to special friends Tim Nelson and Ricky Amos, and to the staff at Trellis Support for their care during David’s illness.

     Services will be announced at a later date.

Colonial Funeral Home Stokes Chapel in Sandy Ridge is serving the family.
