Mrs. Australia Williamson Reed departed this life on Friday morning, September 9, 2022.

She was a native of Caswell County and a resident of Rockingham County for the majority of her life.  Mrs. Reed was a graduate of Caswell County Training School and pursued further education at the 4H Club for Radio Training.  While residing in Maryland, she was employed by a company that made explosives for the military during World War II and was a retiree of Burlington Industries.  As a resolute member of Jerusalem United Holy Church, she actively supported the missions and ministries of the church until her health declined.  Being family oriented, she supported her husband and children with their endeavors and aspirations.  Mrs. Reed enjoyed taking long walks, working with her flowers, quilting and gardening.  She would often share her harvest with the community.  We thank God for this beautiful servant and precious life.   Her parents, Susan King Williamson and Irvin Williamson; beloved husband, Joseph Reed, preceded her in death.

She will be lovingly remembered and honored by her children, Barbara Reed Ashe (James Lee) of Reidsville, Rev. Joseph Reed, Jr. (Portia) of Winston-Salem, Evelyn Reed of the home and Sandra Reed Coley of Reidsville.  Also, to cherish her memory are her wonderful grandchildren, Rachel Fountain (Jeff), Rev. Steven Mc Cain, Kevin Ashe, Clinton Mc Cain (Candence), Rev. Joseph Reed, III (Leah), Shekeina Coley and Coran Coley; great-grandchildren, Ciera Ashe, Joshua Fountain, Jedidiah Mc Cain, Malachi Mc Cain, Nathaniel Mc Cain, Brianna Thompson, Christian Mc Cain, Sanai Mc Cain and Ja’el Mc Cain; great-great-grandchildren, Australia Ashe and Isaiah Estrada; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from the Saint Mariah United Holy Church, 127 Mc Coy Road.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Public viewing will be Tuesday afternoon from 2 until 8 p.m. at the Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.

In every effort to protect our client families, protective facial coverings and social distancing are mandatory requirements.
