Obituary: KAREN DENISE WATLINGTON

Ms. Karen Denise Watlington departed this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. 

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High, Class of 1984.  She pursued further education at North Carolina A & T State University, receiving a degree in Industrial Technology with concentration in Construction Management.  Spiritually, she was a faithful member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, serving with the Missionary Society and the Bereavement Committee.  Karen was formerly employed by Market America and American Express.  During her leisure, she enjoyed reading, traveling, wedding planning and photography.  She was a member of the Ebony Book Club.  Karen was a God-Fearing woman of great strength and fortitude, especially during her illness, and her beautiful smile was a constant reminder for all of her family of the faith that was the foundation of her life.  To God Be The Glory For Doing All Things Well! 

Survivors are: beloved mother, Betty A. Watlington; honorary sisters, Linda Watlington, Jacqueline Harrison (Spencer) and Angela Watlington; brother, Kenneth Watlington (Felicia); godchildren, Cedric Watlington and Danell Harrison; niece and nephews, Kenya Johnson (Thomas), Matthew Watlington and Harry Watlington; great-nieces, Imani and Amber Johnson; uncle, Bobby Totten; aunt, Liza Brown; devoted friends, Sherlisa Foster, Sonya Foster, Jackie Bleu and Vivian; other relatives, classmates, colleagues and friends.   

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6038 Park Springs Road, Pelham with Elder Ryan Pickard presiding and Pastor Gregory L. Hopkins, eulogist.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Public viewing will be Monday afternoon from 2 until 8 p.m. at Johnson & Sons, 115 Holderby Street.
