Obituary: MARY ELIZABETH GRAVELY MARTIN

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Gravely Martin departed this life on Tuesday morning, May 10, 2022.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, she attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She pursued further education in Nursing at Rockingham Community College. Mrs. Martin was a former employee of Sylvania Corporation. Being nurtured by the influences of a Christian family resulted in her becoming a faithful member of Little Bethlehem Christian Church where she served with the Missionary Society and Christian Women’s Fellowship. During her leisure, she enjoyed cooking.
Her parents, James Monroe Gravely and Lizzie Mae Millner; beloved husband, Jesse Martin, preceded her in death.
Survivors are: loving daughters, Marian Maxine Martin, Deborah Martin Moore and Phyllis Stallworth; devoted sons, Jesse Lenward Martin (Abbie Diane), Robert Keith Martin and James Craven Martin; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Gannaway, Lee Ethel Perkins and Jimmie Arlene Gravely; brother, Bentley Mills (Kia); sister-in-law, Viola Martin; brother-in-law, Marvin Martin; special friend, Lois Hairston; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2022 from the Chapel Hill Progressive Primitive Baptist Church, 3360 Guerrant Springs Road with Dr. John B. Doe presiding. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 1:00 p.m. at the church.
