Obituary: MARY LOU HAND VERNON

Mary Lou Hand Vernon, 88, of Eden passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, November 8, 2024 at Fair Funeral Home in Eden with burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Mary was born September 10, 1936 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Robert Alonza Hand and Daisy Lou Hand. She was a member of Martinsville Church of Truth. Mary worked as a spinner at Spray Cotton Mills for 32 years until her retirement.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Connie Vernon Southern of Longs, SC, and J.R. Vernon (Jan) of Eden, NC; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, James Russell Vernon, Sr.; sisters, Dolly Mae Deane and Edna Hand; brothers, Paul Russell Hand, Jessie F. Hand, and Jimmy T. Hand.
