Rockingham County Schools News Release • October 28, 2024 • S. Gladieux, Director of Safety & PIO
(Rockingham County, NC) – The Leadership and Service Ambassador Program of Rockingham County has announced their 2024 -2025 Debutante Ambassadors. The debutantes began the year-long program in 2023. Each ambassador has completed 100 hours of community service and will be awarded the Presidential Service Award for their outstanding contributions to the community of Rockingham County. This year’s cohort has decided to use their voices to bring light and awareness to challenges young women today face. They have chosen as one of their service projects to partner with Cone Health to host the first ever county-wide wellness conference for teen girls. In addition to their service the ambassadors attend workshops designed to empower them to become responsible leaders and independent thinkers.
The Leadership & Service Ambassador Program of Rockingham County was established in 2014 to cultivate servant leadership among young women. The program was designed to provide intentional programming to facilitate and advance opportunities for young women to learn about, dialogue and engage in work to empower and create space for their intellect, spiritual, & emotional intelligence to flourish. Ambassadors are taught, “Leadership is not a title, it’s a behavior.” The program is open to sophomore and junior high school students.
The Ambassadors will be presented on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Pennrose Park Country Club at six o’clock in the evening.
