Barbara Ann Moore Walker, 86, of Reidsville, went to Heaven to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
Barbara was born in Rockingham County to the late Clyde Moore and Carrie Chambers Moore. She received her nursing degree from Rockingham Community College, a career she was passionate about. She was employed with Annie Penn Hospital and Cone Hospital for a number of years before joining the Rockingham County Health Department, finally retiring as the director of nursing. She was an advocate for healthcare and was instrumental in getting Hospice established in Rockingham County and helping for a number of years with the Free Clinic of Reidsville. She was a longtime member at Glencoe United Methodist Church and where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. Barbara loved to read and write autobiographical stories, spend time with friends and cook for others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lea Newton; and the father of her children, David A. Knight.
She is survived by her children, Tony Knight and wife, Renae, Dean Knight and wife, Teresa, and Jeff Knight; grandchildren, Tori Lecky and husband, Thomas, Kiefer Knight and wife, Chasity, Noah Knight, Patrick Winn and wife, Palin and John Winn; great grandchildren, Harley, Thomas, Jr., David, Heidi, Harold, Sawyer, John Bennett and Mackenzie; brother-in-law, Roy Newton.
