Paul Edward Underwood, 84, passed away peacefully on his birthday September 28, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Kilgore officiating. A burial will follow at Burton Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00am and again after the burial.

Paul was born in Caswell County, North Carolina to the late Walter Holt Underwood and Hulda Selena Walker. Paul was a devoted Christian and a wonderful example to his family and friends. His faith was evident in how he lived, served, and loved well. He was passionate about protecting the life of the unborn and served with his church to raise awareness and advocate on their behalf. He always enjoyed playing softball, deep sea fishing, and spending time with family. Paul worked at Guilford Mills in Greensboro, NC and retired after 34 years. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard, small building projects, and helping his son on the farm. The family takes great comfort in knowing he is once again healthy and rejoicing in heaven with his full voice.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Dot Rice, Horace Underwood, Wallace Underwood, Homer Underwood, Lois Minson, Grey Miles, and David Underwood.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Tillie Sartin Underwood; children, Wallace Underwood and wife, Kay, Kenneth Underwood and wife, Julie; grandchildren, Leah Underwood Jordan, Brett Underwood, Katherine “ Katie” Underwood Dailey; 5 great grandchildren; as well as a large and loving group of friends and extended family.
