Obituary: MILTON EUGENE ELLIS

Milton Eugene Ellis, 92, left his earthly home on September 18, 2024 and stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A funeral service will be held at 4 pm Saturday, September 21, 2024 at West Side Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Mayodan Municipal Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church and all other times at his home.

Milton was born February 15, 1932 in Stokes County to the late John Fred and Mary Elizabeth King Ellis. Milton was not one to shy away from hard work. As a child he helped work the family farm and spent time as a young man farming in Canada. He worked at a sawmill as a young man and then for Sonoco Products for 30 years before retiring. Milton was a loyal father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was a faithful member of West Side Baptist Church in Mayodan, where he was loved by his entire church family. His greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, going to church, visiting the sick, fishing, working on junk (guns, clocks, watches, and lawnmowers, etc.), and most importantly witnessing for Jesus.

Milton is survived by his sons, Chuck Ellis (Timpy), Andy “Bear” McCraw (Marie); daughter, Renee Korn (Rocky); granddaughters, Elicia Knight (Brent), Grace Ellis, Caroline Ellis, Jennifer Wall; grandson, Nick Korn (Andrea), Matt Wall (Rebecca), Frankie Rubio (Brianna); great-granddaughters, Reese Knight, Lydia Korn, Payson Korn, Natalie Wall, Mya Rubio; great-grandsons, Cooper Knight, Jaxxon Rubio; brothers, Paul Ellis (Julia) and Ben Ellis; nine step-grandchildren, Micheal Hazelwood, Clint Hazelwood, Brenda Culler, Donnie Hazelwood, Sherry Montgomery, Richard Hazelwood, Sonya Wilson, Debbie Campbell, and Ronda Holbrooks.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Mary Ellis; wife, Anita Atwood Ellis; sons, Milton Ellis Jr, Kenneth Ellis, Eddie Ellis; step-sons, Donald Hazelwood, Dane Hazelwood, Dennis Hazelwood, and Doug Hazelwood; granddaughter, Amber Ellis; sisters, Mattie Heath, Ola Veneable, Harriet Walker, Grace Gerringer; brothers, James Ellis, John Ellis, Marion “Mutt” Ellis, Odell Ellis.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Anna Tipton and Hope Landreth who loved and helped care for Milton in his last days.
