Obituary: LILLIAN KNIGHT McALISTER

Lillian Knight McAlister, of Summerfield NC, passed this life on Saturday, August 31st. She was born November 26, 1938 to the late Emory and Florence Bailey Knight. Also preceding her in death was her brother William “Bill” Knight.
She is survived by her cherished husband, R. Wayne McAlister, of the home, stepson Danny McAlister, also of the home, stepdaughter Wanda McAlister Shive (Jason) of Cary NC, and Sandra McAlister Sheckells (Ron) of Charlotte NC. Also surviving are her brothers MacArthur Knight (Nancy) of Reidsville, Tom Knight (Nadine) of Ridgeway VA, Carey Knight of Greensboro, NC, eleven nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Happy.
Lillian lived a full life, working and living from North Carolina to Georgia and Florida. She was a faithful member of Speedwell Presbyterian Church in Reidsville. Lillian and Wayne worked each week to help put out the church bulletin as long as her health allowed.
She loved to travel, enjoyed researching family genealogy back to Ireland and Scotland, and was passionate about animals. She never met a dog or cat that she didn’t want to bring home. For many years her house would be bursting at the seams hosting holiday gatherings for the family.
The family would like to thank staff at Annie Penn Hospital and the Gibson House at Áncora Hospice for their excellent care of Lillian in her final days.
