RPD: Sale of Counterfeit Gold Bars and Coins Being Investigated

Jack Graham, owner of Kathye’s Pawn, has been charged with three counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense as a result of the investigation into fake gold sold to customers of Kathye’s Pawn. Graham turned himself in to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and was given a $50,000.00 secured bond with a court date of 08/14/2024.

(Reidsville, NC) – Reidsville Police are investigating the sale of counterfeit gold bars and coins. We are asking anyone who has purchased gold bars or coins within the City of Reidsville to have the gold tested by a reputable gold dealer. Gold bars and coins currently being investigated were sold at Kathy’s Pawn in Reidsville. Anyone who has purchased fake gold bars or coins is asked to contact Sgt. Payton Lingle at 336-347-2338.

The photos below are examples similar to the fake gold bars being sold in the Reidsville area. Reidsville Police Department is working with Homeland Security, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the North Carolina Secretary of State regarding this investigation.
