Stoneville Man Facing Attempted Murder Charges; Girlfriend Stabbed Multiple Times

(Rockingham County, NC) – On August 6, 2024, at around 12:12 p.m., Rockingham County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported assault at 2091 Snead Road, Stoneville, N.C. Upon the Deputies’ arrival, they discovered Christina Nicole Hardy, age 36, at a neighbor’s home, visibly bleeding from what appeared to be numerous stab wounds on her body. Hardy was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of her injuries and is reported to be in “stable” condition at the time of this release. She is believed to have been stabbed approximately 20 times by her boyfriend, Joshua Blayne Darnell, 36, also of 2091 Snead Road, Stoneville, N.C.

After consulting with Rockingham County District Attorney Katy Gregg’s Office, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Investigators charged and arrested Joshua Blayne Darnell for Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury, and Attempted Murder. Joshua Darnell was placed in the Rockingham County Detention Facility under a $400,000 secured bond.
