Obituary: PHILLIP LEE HICKMAN

Phillip Lee Hickman, 82, husband, father, and brother, left this earthly life Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Ancora Compassionate Care (Gibson House).

He was born August 1, 1942, in Rockingham County, to the late John Hickman and Myrtle Kimmons Hickman. Phillip was a retired supervisor from Stoneville Furniture Company. He grew up working the land farming with his parents and brothers and sisters. In addition to working at Stoneville Furniture Company, he continued his love for the soil, planting vegetables and fruits for sale. Phillip was known throughout the community for his sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and turnip greens. He was a hardworking man who liked to be busy with his hands.

In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Hickman and Douglas Hickman.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Loretta Parrish Hickman and son, Brian Phillip Hickman, both of the home; brother John Allen (Mary) Hickman, Rachel H. McHone, and Jeri H. (Frank) Pruitt and sister-in-law, Becky Hickman, all of Stoneville; several nephews and nieces, and a special cousin, Sylvester “Duck” Hickman and wife Opal.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2024, at Riverside Church of the Living God, 540 Chaney Loop, Stoneville, NC. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Llewellyn Cemetery, intersection of Ledbetter Road (S.R. 1330) and Manuel Road, Mayodan, NC.

The family extends their appreciation to the staff at Ancora Compassionate Care (Gibson House) for Phillip’s end of life care.
