Obituary: MERELINE AMOS WATKINS

Mereline Amos Watkins, 91, of Stoneville passed away early Wednesday morning at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on June 22, 2024, at Smith Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Amos Family Cemetery in Sandy Ridge, NC. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm on Saturday, before the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter.

Mereline was born in Rockingham County on November 14, 1932, a daughter of Robert Alonza Amos and Pearl Dodson Amos, both deceased. She retired from Bassett-Walker Co.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Rufus Lee Watkins; her children, Carol Watkins Cox, Terri Watkins Hodge and Billy Lee Watkins; her siblings, Doug Amos, Junior Amos, Louis Amos, Vivian Craddock, Polly Hilton; and her granddaughter, Amelia Cox.

Mereline is survived by her daughter, Dale Bray (Eddie) of Stoneville; her grandchildren, Raymond Morris (fiancé, Kristy Hamm), Casey Hodge, Elizabeth Rigney (Bobby), Christin Minter (John), Henry Willis Cox; and her great grandchildren, Chelsea (Gabe Lawson), Kalleigh Morris, Daniel Morris and Caroline Rigney.
