Ralph Edward Shelton, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at UNC Rockingham.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at East Side Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Davis officiating. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 at the church. Interment will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery.
Ralph was the son of the late Lemmie and Agnes Clark Shelton and a native of Rockingham County. He served his country in the United States Army and was a retiree of the American General Life Insurance Company. He was a faithful member of East Side Missionary Baptist Church for many years where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He also was a member of the North Carolina Baptist Men where he helped with disaster relief and enjoyed going on mission trips. Ralph was a loving and devoted husband, father and poppy. He was also preceded in death by his sister Ruby Shelton Griffin and brothers Ernest and Lewis Shelton and an infant brother, Roy Lester Shelton.
He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Shirley Durham Shelton; daughter Shelia Shelton and Veronica Blanco; son Tracey Shelton and wife Vicky; grandchildren Scotty Slayton, Ashley Shelton and Madeline Whisenant; great grandchildren Natalie Livesay and Kacy Livesay and sisters Ila McKee and Alice Goins
