On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Helen Gilley Chambers Davis entered eternal rest at the age of 101.
Helen was one of ten children born to Henry T. and Gracie Lamberth Gilley. She was a lifetime resident of Reidsville, North Carolina.
An accomplished seamstress, Helen happily assisted clients and family with their sewing projects and was always glad to help her nieces by altering party dresses and wedding gowns.
A devoted longtime member of Reidsville Alliance Church, she was enthusiastically involved in church life, especially in helping with youth activities. She was always available to help with mission work and other needs of members.
Helen loved to cook and loved to share her food with others. Her family and her church were the most important parts of Helen’s life. She was a kind, gentle and caring person and loved by her community.
Helen was preceded in death by husbands Howard Thomas Chambers and Dewey Davis, sisters Ruth Corum, Mary Lee Loftis, Dorothy Robertson, Bobbie Jean Taylor and brothers Robert Gilley, Malcolm Gilley and Calvin Gilley.
Helen is survived by sisters Betty Gunn and Margaret Griffin, son Jim Chambers (Dee), grandson Matthew Chambers (Caroline), great grand children Barritt, Annabelle and Jay Chambers and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at Reidsville Alliance Church on Saturday, June 25, 2022, with Rev. Lynn Long officiating. A visitation period will begin at 1:00, followed by the service at 2 P.M. Burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery.
Memorials made to Reidsville Alliance Church would be welcomed.
