Marty Wayne “Fly” Southard departed this life on Tuesday morning, June 21, 2022.
As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a former employee of Jackie Lovelace Roofing. During his leisure, he enjoyed socializing and fishing.
His parents, Linda Faye Starnes and Larry Wayne Southard; sister, Kristi Southard, preceded him in death.
Survivors are: longtime companion, Shannon Wagoner; sister, Chelcy Starnes (Josh); special nieces, Amber Little (Wayne) and Addison Wall; niece, Haley Hunt (Jake), twin girls on the way; nephews, Mark Sams, Jr., Jim Cochran, II, Hunter Starnes and Chase Starnes; brother, Bruce Southard (Barbara Ann); special cousins, Woody, Jed and Renee; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2022 from the family plot of Greenview Cemetery, 1004 Montgomery Street with Pastor Chris Cox presiding.
