Obituary: BOBBY DEAN BOYD

Bobby Dean Boyd, 81, of Madison, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Annie Penn Hospital.
A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, June 17, 2022, at First Baptist Church of Mayodan with Rev. Torrey Easler and Rev. Randy Jessup officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Gardens in Eden with Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, June 16, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home.
Bobby was born in Rockingham County on December 22, 1940, to the late William Dempsey and Laura Amos Boyd. He retired from Sears & Roebuck after 32 years of service and then joined Ray Funeral Home, working another 28 years until retirement. Bobby loved going to the beach and NASCAR. He also enjoyed going to car shows and his little blue truck.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Glenda Shough Boyd of the home; his son, Rodney Boyd (Cindy) of Stoneville; his brother Varnie Boyd (Andrea) of Sandy Ridge; his granddaughter, Chasity Tucker (Sean) of Mayodan; and a great-grandson, Dawson Tucker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mayodan, 101 S. 1st Ave, Mayodan, NC 27027 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
