Dr. William Stanford Kallam passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Robin Preston Kallam of Reidsville; sister Kathryn Kallam Ruocchio, brother-in-law John H. Ruocchio, nephew Thomas Stanford Ruocchio, niece Lillian Grace Ruocchio, all of Raleigh; and brother-in-laws Roger Preston and Tal Shalom of New York. He was preceded in death by his parents Stanford Kallam and Helen Harris Kallam.

Bill was born on May 17, 1958 in Reidsville, North Carolina. He was a lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church and attended Reidsville City Schools. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 1984.

While at UNC, he met his future wife Robin, and they were married on July 23, 1983. Following graduation, Bill and Robin moved back to Reidsville where they settled and where Bill practiced dentistry for the next 36 years until his retirement in December of 2020.

Bill was a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, serving on the Board of Trustees, as well as past President of the Rockingham County Dental Society. He was also a member of the Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge and the Reidsville Kiwanis Club.

Bill’s greatest joy in life was being a dentist and serving the people of his beloved hometown. There was no call or request that went unanswered, regardless of the time or day, and It would not be unusual for him to slip out of a party or dinner to go help a patient in need. His dental team and staff were an extension of his family and he loved sharing his passion for providing the absolute best care for his patients with them.

When he wasn’t working, Bill loved to travel. Any place with good food near the water were his favorites and he and Robin enjoyed many trips to Charleston, SC, Washington DC, and Raleigh to visit family and trips back to Chapel Hill to watch his Tarheels play football. He was also a huge fan of Mopar and very proud of his orange 1969 Plymouth Road Runner – the Hemibird.

A celebration of Bill’s life will take place on Saturday, June 17th beginning at 11:00am at Main Street United Methodist Church, 221 South Main Street, Reidsville, NC 27320. A visitation and reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Gibson House for their care and support of Bill during his brief stay there. A very special thank you also to Susan and Bert Jones, Todd Walker, Byron Roberts and the many friends who offered their care and support to Bill, Robin and the family during his illness.
