Thomas Anthony Broadnax journeyed home to his heavenly Father on Thursday May 25, 2023 at 9:25 a.m.

He was born December 26th, 1948 to Robert Lewis Broadnax and Rosanna Hairston Broadnax in Eden, North Carolina.

A 12:00 noon Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Ray Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.

At the age of eighteen he was drafted into the Vietnam War and served as an Army medic and leader within his military branch. He would go on to work in his early twenties as an orderly for Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, caring for and establishing rehabilitation programs for the mentally disabled. Later he would continue that career working on the ortho traction team for George Washington University Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital in Washington D.C. He attended Rockingham Community College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Soon after, he worked in and eventually retired from the passion he loved, which was teaching. Tony, as he liked to be called, was a man who loved counseling and was a mentor in his own right, especially when it came to young people. He truly believed and encouraged all people in having the ability to accomplish anything they put their mind to, and he always pushed for the fulfillment of God’s purpose in each of the lives he touched.

He is proceeded in death by his father, mother, two sisters, and four brothers. He is survived by wife Shirl Satterfield-Broadnax, brother William Broadnax, his children Toni Yvonne, Terri and Shane Arthur, Thomas Broadnax Jr. and Keisha Broadnax, Tarin Broadnax, Ronni Broadnax, Randy and Lori Broadnax, Gina Broadnax, Kristina and Travis Hutchens, Alisha Broadnax, Timothy and Autumn Broadnax, thirty four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and mentees. He will be truly missed by all the lives he inspired.
