Obituary: CHARLIE “MARVIN” WILLIAMS

Charlie “Marvin” Williams, 91, of Reidsville, was called home to be with his Savior on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Bowman and Rev. Phillip Talton officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the home.

Marvin was born in Rockingham County to the late Charlie Hilliard Williams and Mary Wilkins Williams. He was a 1950 graduate of Reidsville High School. He was a member of Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church for over 50 years and attended Calvary’s Hill Baptist Church for the last few years. Marvin was a member of the Reidsville Police Department for 27 years and retired as a Lieutenant and prior to his death was the oldest living retiree of the Reidsville Police Department. He served his country in the US Army Special Forces Paratroopers making 14 jumps during the Korean War. He was a former member of the Reidsville Elk’s Club. He enjoyed dancing, country and blue grass music and baseball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Durham Williams; brothers, Curtis, John, Dewey and Roy Williams, J.P. Wilkins; sisters, Gladys Williams and Ann Yacavone.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Williams (Kim); daughter, Marvene Williams Cobb; sisters, Evelyn Sladky (Tom) and Margaret Kivett; brothers, Russell Williams (Bonnye), Louis Williams (Brenda) and Jimmy Williams (Linda); grandchildren, Caleb Williams (Kelly) and Cody Williams, Justin Cobb (Heather) and Jordan Cobb (Sara); great grandchildren, Emmry and Abrielle Cobb, Julianna Stanfield, Eli and Lillian Cobb and Fisher Gray Williams; and special friend, Deane Batterman.

Memorials may be made to Calvary’s Hill Baptist Church, 1121 N. Scales Street, Reidsville, NC 27320.
